The Bakersfield Jazz Festival is – at its core – an event designed to support CSUB students. Each year the BJF raises upwards of $20,000 in scholarship money for students in many disciplines across the University.
Students in geology, liberal studies, mathematics, biology, nursing, and of course, music receive awards based on merit, financial need, or other parameters decided upon by the donors and campus officials. Sometimes the money comes from our corporate partners, other times it comes from from families honoring the memory of their lost loved ones. But from wherever the money originates, it is used to assist students as they reach for their goal of a college education.
We are so thankful to be able to preset these awards to deserving students at the Jazz Festival!
